It was the second straight win for the 27-year-old CADEX triathlete from Norway, following his victory one week earlier in Yokohama, Japan.
Blummenfelt rode a CADEX Road WheelSystem with a 65 rear wheel and 42 front wheel, as well as CADEX Race tires, on the 40km bike leg, holding his position in a large lead group as they entered the run.
“I knew [fellow CADEX athlete] Gustav Iden was in the second pack and catching up, so I just tried to keep control on the bike and stay out of trouble,” Blummenfelt said. “I know I’m in good run shape at the moment.”
The Norwegian proved that soon enough, pushing the pace on the 10km run as other top contenders faded. Only Max Studer of Switzerland was still with Blummenfelt as he hit the final 2.5km lap. From there, Blummenfelt made one final surge, dropping Studer and crossing the finish with a time of 1:42:33, 8 seconds ahead of second-place Studer.
Iden, also riding the CADEX Road WheelSystem, ended up finishing 8th, less than a minute off Blummenfelt's winning time.
