Vasco is one of the top young short-course triathletes in the world. The Portuguese star was born in a suburb of Lisbon and competed in his first multisport event (a duathlon) at age 6. He won his first international title in 2017, when he was crowned European Junior champion. Three months later Vasco won a silver medal at the Junior World Championships. From there he moved into the Elite ranks and has scored a string of wins and podiums over the past few years. Vasco's sister Vera is also an elite Portuguese triathlete.
