“Now I’ve shown that the fast legs are there,” said Kopecky, the current Belgian elite women’s national champion. “We were perfectly in the race from start to finish as a team and we rode attentively at the front.”
The field split up early but the Liv Racing WorldTeam maintained a strong presence in the lead group. Numerous attacks and breakaway efforts were launched in the closing kilometers, but Kopecky’s teammates kept things under control, setting her up for a dash to the line.
“When it became clear that it would end in a sprint, Evy Kuijpers kept me out of the wind in the last kilometer,” said Kopecky, who powered her Liv Langma team bike with a CADEX WheelSystem to the line ahead of Danish rider Emma Norsgaard and Australian Chloe Hosking, second and third respectively.
Next up for Kopecky and the rest of the Liv Racing WorldTeam is the Italian classic Strade Bianche on Saturday, March 6.
