After three weeks and more than 22,000 kilometers raced across Spain and France, Team Jayco AlUla’s post-race mechanics report revealed an impressive performance from the CADEX Aero Cotton Tires and Max 50 WheelSystems raced by the team's eight riders at the Tour de France.
The team chose the aerodynamic and ultralight CADEX Max 50 and the supple, super-efficient Aero Cotton Tires for all 19 road stages of the Tour de France, recording zero punctures or wheel issues. For the race’s two time-trial stages, they used CADEX Aero WheelSystems with Vittoria tires, also without issue.
Swiss rider Mauro Schmid rode the Max 50’s hookless rim technology to victory in a two-up sprint ahead of Harold Tejada (XDS Astana) on Stage 13 in Belfort, and quickly followed up with a pair of second-place finishes on Stage 17 and Stage 18.
On Stage 17 Schmid finished second to Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Premier Tech) in a reduced bunch sprint; the next day he finished as runner-up to Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) on a summit finish.
As was the case for many of Team Jayco AlUla’s riders, Schmid’s bike was finished with the innovative CADEX Aero Integrated Handlebar and the comfortable, lightweight Amp Saddle.
